Changes are coming to downtown parking, including parallel parking in front of the post office on Pine Street.
The Abilene City Council on Thursday approved plans to remark pavement in the city's central business district.
The council approved a $508,503 construction contract with Flat Line Inc., funded by 2015 bond dollars, to remove existing pavement markers and replace them throughout the downtown area.
Other changes will include reduction of some three-lane roads to two, in exchange for increasing the number of available spaces via angled parking, said Greg McCaffery, director of public works, after the meeting.
Second, Third, Fifth, Sixth and Walnut streets "are all going to get a single-lane reduction," he said.
