REVIVED that screams 'student film'.
Yet student film it is, developed as part of a diploma at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg by Schilling and his cohorts over the past couple of years, being shot (with approximately 80 crew members and just over 100 extras!) in mid/end 2019 in two shooting blocks: at the river Lech in Austria and at the open-air museum in Wackershofen, Germany.
The film follows Carl, a young lad who was born with a cord on his back that has to be pulled in order to wind him up like a music box, and his lifelong friend Henry.
Filled with emotion, genuinely gasp-able moments and staggeringly ambitious visuals, the film [gag/twist ending aside] is an extremely competent and convincing calling-card for the breakthrough director.
