(From left) Nataphol: Perceived as inaccessible; Sontirat: Back in the news.
This week witnessed a brief return to the news of former energy minister Sontirat Sontijirawong and that was enough to have political pundits speculating on the shape of the political landscape before the next general election.
Of course, Mr Sontirat's interview did not emerge out of thin air. He was asked to respond to rumours that the "See Guman" group, loosely alluding to the "fantastic four" to which Mr Sontirat belongs, was staging a comeback to the political arena.
The group is believed to be looking to either cobble together manpower and resources to form its political party or hitching a ride with a new party. All eyes were immediately fixed on the Sang Thai group led by veteran politician and former Pheu Thai Party chief strategist, Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan.
