A dozen communities in southern Worcester county collaborated to open a vaccination site at McCloskey Middle School in Uxbridge.
Erected in 1952, in the decades since, the Uxbridge Veterans Memorial located on the town’s middle school campus has housed countless events. Banners inside the gymnasium reflect athletic greatness. But its scars also show its age.
A deep scratch carves up the hardwood floor from the “SWCL” logo to the sideline. Orange paint is chipping off the walls. Several water stains and repaired leaks are evident on the ceiling.
