7th All India Conference of the Deaf (AICD) in Guwahati, Assam — 8 from Nagaland take part DIMAPUR — Eight hearing impaired persons from Nagaland participated in the 7th All India Conference of the Deaf (AICD) held in Guwahati, Assam, from May 18 to the 21st. The event was organised by the All India Federation of the Deaf (AIFD), New Delhi, and hosted by the Assam Association of the Deaf (AAD) at Madhavdeva International Auditorium, Guwahati, the Nagaland State Disability Forum (NSDF)) informed in an update. The 7th AICD took place after a gap of 35 years, the last one was held in New Delhi in 1988. The four-day conference included a host of activities from presentations to discussions on various topics concerning deaf people’s rights to deaf cultural shows. Eight hearing impaired from Nagaland participated in the mega event and took part in other various activities, showcasing their talents and Nagaland’s rich and vibrant culture and tradition, NSDF stated. The team also brought home prizes including first prize in ‘Mime’ (Nuchet Longchar), first runner-up in ‘Mr. Deaf Senior’ (Tekamendang Sangtam) and second prize in ‘Cultural Dance’ (Khetoli Kiba, Rodeno Tungoe, Ozunglemla Ozkhum, Echungbemo Kikon, Tekamendang Sangtam and Nuchet Longchar)....
