One of the artists involved is Andrew Soltis, cofounder of A&A Woodcrafts in Houma. Soltis and his business partner Andrew Usie create and sell hand-made coffee tables, cutting boards, utensils, duck calls, and other custom handcrafted items.
Soltis said they have sold their wares mostly in craft shows so far, but the collective has its advantages.
“It’s great, because we’re not having to pack everything up, go somewhere, set everything up, stay there all day to hopefully sell a couple of things, then pack it all back up and then find a place to put it at our house,” Soltis said. “At this place, it’s multiple days, you’ve got all walks of life, you’ve got people who’ve maybe never thought about buying something woodwork-related.”
