CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga - A total of 567 persons who committed various offenses were arrested and some PHP3 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in a weeklong anti-crime drive in Region 3 (Central Luzon). Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, director of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), said on Monday the anti-criminality operations from November 29 to December 6 are part of their continuing efforts to maintain the peace the order situation in the region. Baccay said of the 567 arrested individuals, 122 have standing warrants of arrests for murder, rape, or frustrated murder; 118 were nabbed for illegal drugs, 326 for illegal gambling, and one for illegal logging. He also said a total of 365 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu weighing 451 grams and valued at PHP3,067,684, and two sachets of marijuana weighing 320 grams valued at PHP38,400.00, were seized. Baccay said those accomplishments, particularly the arrest of most wanted fugitives, people involved in illegal drugs, and street crimes, were the results of the strong support of all local chief executives in the anti-criminality programs of the PRO3. He appealed to the public for their support and cooperation in the fight against illegal drugs and other forms of criminality. Meanwhile, Baccay said he would continue his series of command visits to check the status of police units and personnel in the ground to ensure the full implementation of all directives of higher headquarters. The PRO3 chief has been paying courtesy calls on the different local government heads and partner agencies as well as stakeholders to continuously build bridges of collaboration among the different entities of the society.
