500 Sails boatyard open house to celebrate Che'lu's 10th birthday | News

(Press Release) — 500 Sails is inviting the public to an open house at the 500 Sails boatyard in Lower Base to celebrate the 10th birthday of the 47-foot canoe Che'lu.  Come see Che'lu close up as well as the other six canoes in the boatyard at various states of completion. These canoes include: Ladahao, I Marianas, Auntie Oba (for Jacoba Seman), Animiyu, Dinga, and Hagåtña.

Che'lu began as a dream in 2006 when the nonprofit Sakman Chamorro Inc. was formed and in-depth research was collected about Chamorro canoes, especially the large "sakman."
