Workington Nature Partnership volunteers have braved the cold and wrapped up warm to venture out in December and clean litter off beaches three times during December.
This takes the number of volunteer hours to 55 and they hauled a massive total of 47 bags of rubbish over the three clean-ups.
Susan Cammish, nature ranger of the partnership, said: “It was a great response from members of the local community, some of whom brought their children out for some pre-Christmas family time, as well as contributing to a great cause”.
“Removing this rubbish from the beach is hard work, with heavy, awkward loads needing to be brought back to a central collection point for removal.
