3rd Annual Mattern Ranch Big Bass Tournament
On Saturday April 17th, Mattern Ranch in Plantersville presented the 3rd Annual Mattern Ranch Big Bass Tournament. Fishermen signed up at Casey’s in Plantersville the Thursday and Friday before and began fishing at 12:01 am on Saturday. The weigh in held at Henry’s Hideout in Plantersville began at 12:00pm on Saturday. Over 150 plates of fried catfish and French fries were served and the live band, The Great Unknowns played into the night. The Hourly Biggest Bass paid $100 and Two Colombia Cooler bags per team and went to Scott Martin and Chad Henry in the 3:00 hour and Matt and Mindy Mizell in the 4:00pm hour. The Slot Bass Paid $100 and Two Colombia Cooler bags per team: 29th Biggest Bass went to Bill Keyser and Patt Segal, 22nd Biggest Bass went to Matt and Mindy Mizell, 18th Biggest Bass went to Bill Keyser Patt Segall and 12th Biggest Bass went to Cooper Imhoff and Caden Leonard. The youth division paid $25 to 7th place, Kayden Mitchell, $25 to 6th place, JT Merriwether, $25 to 5th place, Sadie Keyser, $25 to 4th place, Brileigh Keyser, $50 and a custom belt buckle to 3rd place, Conner Frenzel, $100 to 2nd place and a custom belt buckle, Larkin Kimich and the Youth Champion Biggest Bass paid $150 and a custom buckle to Wyatt Mizell with a bass weighing 5.38 pounds. The outstanding youth fisherman of the day award went to Ariel Neseritch who exhibited excellent sportsmanship and attitude all day.
