(Photo courtesy of IMEG) MANILA - Members of the anti-scalawag unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) have arrested three police officers for alleged extortion in an entrapment in Palo, Leyte on Thursday night. In a statement Friday, Brig. Gen. Oliver Enmodias, chief of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG), identified the suspects as Senior Master Sgt. Alex Asis, Staff Sgt. Raffy Reposar and Cpl. Jerwin Dacillo, assigned at the Palo Municipal Police Station (MPS). Emodias said the three were arrested by members of the IMEG Visayas Field Unit office with the assistance of officers from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-8 inside the Palo MPS at around 6 p.m. The operation stemmed from a complaint filed with the VFU Team against the cops for multiple extortion, robbery and sexual harassment. The complainant, a certain Cherie Quinones of Tacloban City, is already out on bail following her arrest for extortion during an entrapment in a 'Barangayanihan' medical mission in October last year. Investigation showed the three cops has been extorting money from Quinones for almost four months. Recovered from the suspects were six PHP1,000 bills, PHP6,000 (marked money), two Glock 17 9mm pistols with serial numbers PNP22117 and PNP46179; two magazines with 29 ammunition; and four mobile phones. The suspects are now under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 8 in Tacloban City and will face criminal and administrative charges.
