A Belleville-based charitable effort is socking it to the effects of poverty and the pandemic.
It’s called 20K Sock Day, and participants in the latest campaign made 169,757 donations of socks and other items to causes across Canada. That’s more than double the number of items collected last year.

The program is organized by the partners in We Be Us Community, a Belleville-based clothing company.
Phil Kerr and Nick Foley founded both the company and 20K Sock Day in November 2018. Belleville’s Emilie Leneveu joined each initiative in 2020.
