25-acre brush fire burning at 'moderate rate of spread' in Thermal

A 25-acre fire broke out Tuesday in Thermal, spurring a multi-agency response, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The blaze was reported at 12:17 p.m. in the 89-000 block of Avenue 64 and had blackened about 20 acres by 1:30 p.m., according to the Riverside County Fire Department. By 3:45 p.m., it had increased to 25 acres.
The first engine on scene reported a 5-acre brusher burning at a "moderate rate of spread." As of 1 p.m., five-dozen firefighters were on scene, including personnel from the Idyllwild Fire Protection District, Palm Springs Fire Department and Imperial County Fire Department.
