STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The man accused of brutally attacking a defenseless 63-year-old woman in New Dorp two-and-a-half years ago has pleaded guilty to felony assault.
However, Eric Coleman could avoid prison if he completes mental-health treatment, under the terms of his plea agreement.
Coleman, who is in his late 50s, had been found mentally incapable of standing trial in November 2018 shortly after being indicted in the case.
