Des Moines police have arrested two Des Moines residents in connection with the city's first homicide of 2021.
Columbus Plum Lewis III, 51, is charged with first-degree murder, and Virgil Alva See, 55, is charged with accessory after the fact and first-degree theft.
At about 11:20 p.m. on Feb. 26, Darrell Merriwether, 52, of Clive was found with a gunshot wound in front of Lewis III's home in the 1100 block of 19th Street. He died hours later at a local hospital.
