Two firefighters were hospitalized after a three-alarm fire in Somerville early Wednesday.
SOMERVILLE, MA — Two firefighters were hospitalized following a three-alarm fire in Somerville early Wednesday. Fire Chief Charles Breen said firefighters responded to a Kensington Avenue home around 2 a.m. and found a heavy fire in the basement, which spread up the rear stairway.
Two people were trapped on the second floor and pulled to safety, Breen said. During the rescue, two firefighters were injured and taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.
They have since been released and will recover at home, Breen said. Seven more firefighters sustained minor injuries but remained on duty.
