Jamaicans have until Sunday, February 28, to register with the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) for an opportunity to be named amongst 2,500 individuals who will benefit from a backyard gardening kit.
A total of $10 million has been allocated for the distribution of 2,500 backyard gardening kits to grow produce such as okra, tomato, peas, beans, carrot, onion, cabbage, callaloo, pepper, and scallion.
The backyard gardening programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and is being overseen by the RADA.
Residents in urban areas, that is places of high population density and infrastructure of built environment like Kingston and Portmore, St Catherine; along with peri-urban spaces which are marked by a mix of urban and rural characteristics across the island are to benefit.
