The strong wind conditions forecast for the region had fallen short, which Mr Regano said helped take the sting out of the cold.
"There won't be quite the chill factor but it's certainly below average and it will feel like a winter's day, absolutely," he said.
"It's going to stay below average for quite a few days, I'd say until next week."
Although daytime temperatures through the weekend were expected to warm up, Mr Regano said Coast residents would still reach for their Ugg boots and dressing gowns.
"It's still going to feel wintry the whole time, the nights will be very cold, so they're going to be in single digits for quite a few days," he said.
