U.S. Rep. Jim Hagedorn underwent surgery to remove one of his kidneys on Monday.
Hagedorn, a Republican who represents Minnesota's First Congressional District in southern Minnesota, revealed in early 2020 that he was diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney cancer in February 2019.
According to a statement from his office, Hagedorn underwent an elective procedure to remove his kidney and surrounding cancerous tissues at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester on Monday morning.
Minnesota GOP Party Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan, who is Hagedorn's wife, tweeted Monday, saying the surgery was a success and Hagedorn is in recovery.
