When the Buffalo Bills last played the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC Championship, on Jan. 23, 1994, the team was facing more than just the great Joe Montana.
They were also up against their own history and a sporting public that had become bored with their success.
If Buffalo beat the Chiefs at Rich Stadium on that Sunday afternoon, they would have secured their four consecutive conference championship, something that Chuck Knoll’s Steelers, Bill Walsh’s 49ers, and Bill Belichick’s Patriots failed to accomplish.
