REG Feddon was a legend in Cumwhinton.
Born in 1933 to Florence and Kelly Feddon, he grew up in the village, attending the primary school there before winning a scholarship to Greggs private school in Carlisle.
Yet despite that prestigious start to his academic life, Reg always had his feet planted firmly on the ground.
To earn pocket money, he helped his grandfather in his market garden and also local farmer Ernie Wood on his milk round. That early practical experience of working life served Reg well in his adult years.
He had a typical village childhood, often cycling the two miles to his aunt and uncle’s home so he could spend time with them in the school holidays.
