All across Cumbria are being urged to remain safe while celebrating this New Year.
While many enjoy a drink on December 31, Cumbria's police and crime commissioner, Peter McCall, is asking everyone to always avoid drink- and drug-driving, and to follow the current Covid-19 restrictions.
Driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is one of the biggest causes of accidents and fatalities across the country, and is considered one of the Fatal Four, alongside speeding, not wearing seatbelts, and distracted driving.
Mr McCall, said: “Christmas and New Year is a time of celebration, and most adults do enjoy an alcoholic drink over this period.
