The government informed the Lok Sabha that only five children were adopted in the last two years under new rules after Article 370's amendment. Jammu and Kashmir reported 181 missing children, and across India, 58,546 children were missing. The Mission Vatsalya Scheme rescued and rehabilitated 817 children in Jammu and Kashmir. There were 800 children in Child Care Institutions, and 35 children were booked for drug-related offenses. The Adoption Regulations, 2022, were framed, and CARINGS, an online platform, was developed for adoption processing. Most districts in India have Child Protection Units except for Ladakh.
