Spencer Community Theater Reports Decline in Annual Membership

Spencer, IA (KICD)– We are continuing to hear about the impacts COVID-19 has had on local organizations including Spencer Community Theater.
Executive Creative Director Liz McNea says new numbers show a decline in annual membership which has led to a deficit in funding for the organization despite recently receiving ten thousand dollars in specialized funding from the State of Iowa.
McNea says those still hoping to see one of the cancelled shows for this season are in luck as SCT secures the rights to perform it again.
McNea adds live theater has begun to reach a new, younger demographic of patrons, but notes a decline in the older population especially with some shows allowing livestreaming.
