David Jaramillo has begun to speak and could be discharged from the hospital as soon as late next week, the family's attorney said Thursday.
It's more good news following a dramatic improvement earlier this week in the condition of the Marion boy,. The 16-year-old was critically injured in a July 3 accident at Adventureland Park that claimed the life of his brother Michael, 11.
"David Jr. is beginning to talk, still has a tracheotomy but is talking slowly," said Ryan Best, the family's attorney.
The good news for his family comes after they laid Michael to rest Saturday in a funeral at Des Moines' Corinthian Baptist Church.
