Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum announced $5 million in grants for 12 state nonprofits that help communities impacted by inequity, like LGBTQ+, LatinX and BIPOC domestic violence survivors.
"Our AG is hearing us and I think that’s a step starting the process, being heard," said Jackie Vargas with
CASA Esperanza, the LatinX domestic violence shelter, which got a three-year grant worth $300,000.
"This funding will definitely be a way to move us toward that direction that we need to go to," said Vargas.
Vargas said it's always tough to get funding, especially during COVID. She said domestic violence numbers are going up in the LatinX community.
