STEUBENVILLE — A senior citizen who allegedly threatened a common pleas court judge and another man charged with trying to smuggle a handgun into a government building were among 12 people indicted Wednesday by a Jefferson County grand jury.
Norman Dejuan Brown, 3929 Stratford Blvd., Steubenville, was indicted on charges of having weapons while under disability and illegally conveying a weapon onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility, both felonies.
Brown, 43, allegedly tried to enter the Jefferson County Justice Center for a juvenile court hearing with a .32 caliber pistol tucked inside a black leather bag March 30. Brown told deputies he didn’t know the gun was in the bag, saying his girlfriend “apparently grabbed the wrong bag” when they left for court. Deputies said the gun was loaded and two other bullets were found in the bag.
