AROUND 1 in 15 key workers have so far responded to the invitation to take a coronavirus test at new asymptomatic test sites in Swindon, the borough’s public health chief has confirmed.
Director of public health at Swindon Borough Council Steve Maddern said 1,500 people had been invited to take a lateral flow test this week. Around 100 people had taken a test.

Speaking to BBC Points West on Wednesday evening, Mr Maddern said: “Turnout for the first week has been relatively slow but steady. We only opened Monday afternoon. We’ve seen just around about 100 give or take across the last day and a half, which is a really positive start. We have invited over 1,500 people in the first week so, again, it’s very much a phased roll-out so we’ll see an increase as the weeks go on.”
