1 killed, 4 injured in Saturday morning crash on U.S. 441 South
SUMMERFIELD — One man was killed and four others injured Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 441 just south of County Road 42.
Debris from the crash destroyed a water line, causing approximately 30,000 gallons of water to spill along the highway.
A Toyota Highlander SUV was northbound on U.S. 441 and a pickup truck was southbound, and for unknown reasons, the pickup crossed the grassy median and struck the SUV, witnesses told Florida Highway Patrol troopers.
The SUV stopped, and the pickup overturned on the passenger side in the grassy median. The driver, who was the only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.
