The amount of medical debt sent to collections agencies in the U.S. decreased from 2009-2020, a study published this year found. But that wasn't the case in the South, where that number actually increased. Harvard Business School professor Raymond Kluender, one of the study's authors, joins us to explain the findings on part 11 of The Price We Pay, WFAE's series examining the cost of American health care.
