The Detroit Institute of Arts is one of several cultural institutions within the boundary of a new effort to expand free outdoor Wi-Fi.
A $500,000 grant will bring free outdoor Wi-Fi access to a broad swath of Detroit's Midtown neighborhood, home to many of the city's cultural institutions.
The grant, awarded to Detroit's Cultural Center Planning Initiative, comes from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, with additional support from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation, according to a news release.
