'I wanted to show the world I was all in'
"I grew up in quite an unstable family unit, so I didn't really have any real attachment to my maiden name. By contrast, I have known my husband's parents since I was 18 and always looked up to his dad like a father figure.
“There was never a discussion or an expectation that I would change my surname, but I did it as soon as we married.
"I always felt like retaining your name was a way of saying you're not all that committed to the marriage, and I wanted to show the world that I was all in. Of course, I also wanted to have the same name as our children and even today, with two daughters in primary school, I still smile when I see our names forms. Having my married name makes me happy." – Janka Laszlo
