“I felt very nervous, scared,” Michelle says now of being told she was pregnant. “But I came around; got it into my head that I was going to be a mother. My mam and my dad said that they’d be beside me the whole way.”
Ross was born by Caesarean section; Michelle’s sister, Lorraine, was her birthing partner. “She and Ross were very close,” Michelle says. “Ross was close to everyone, all my family. He was just so special to them.”
For the first week, her parents took over much of the baby’s care, while Michelle began to recover from the Caesarean.
