Detailed description is 設置母体はカトリックの女子修道会である長崎純心聖母会。沿革昭和1934年（昭和9年）- 設置母体である長崎純心聖母修道女会創立。1935年（昭和10年）- 純心女学院を創立（長崎市西中町＝現・中町）。1936年（昭和11年）- 長崎純心高等女学校に改称。1937年（昭和12年）- 長崎市家野町（現 文教町）に移転（現在の高校、中学所在地）。1945年（昭和20年）8月9日 - 原爆により校舎全壊。214人の生徒、教職員が死亡。10月 - 元大村海軍工廠宿舎（大村市）を仮校舎として再開。1948年（昭和23年）- 学制改革により、長崎純心高等女学校を純心女子高等学校に改称。長崎市家野町での授業を再開。1950年（昭和25年）- 純心女子専門学校をもとに純心女子短期大学（社会科）を設置。1951年（昭和26年）- 学校法人純心女子学園が認可され、純心保母養成所をもとに短期大学に保育科を設置。1975年（昭和50年）- 短期大学が文教町から三ツ山町に移転。1983年（昭和58年）- 短期大学に英米文化科設置。平成1989年（平成元年）- 短期大学に専攻科設置。1994年（平成6年）- 長崎純心大学が開設され人文学部（比較文化学科、現代福祉学科）を置く。1995年（平成7年）- 短期大学社会科を社会福祉科に改称。1998年（平成10年）- 大学院人間文化研究科人間文化専攻（修士課程）設置。2000年（平成12年）- 短期大学社会福祉科廃止。人文学部に人間心理学科を大学院に博士後期課程を設置し、純心女子短期大学を長崎純心大学短期大学部に改称。2001年（平成13年）- 短期大学部英米文化科廃止。人文学部に英語情報学科開設。2003年（平成15年）- 人文学部に児童保育学科を設置。2011年（平成23年）- 上智大学と学生交流協定締結。
