Detailed description is 觀塘站（Kwun Tong Station）是港鐵觀塘綫上的一個架空車站，於1979年10月1日開幕，當時屬修正早期系統的總站，位於觀塘區觀塘市中心。車站設計觀塘站位於觀塘區的觀塘道迴旋處之上。車站下方設有一條行車隧道（7號幹線一部份），主要方便觀塘道車輛於車站下方穿過，無需經過觀塘道、協和街及開源道迴旋處，減輕有關路段擠塞情況。該行車隧道與觀塘站同時興建，現由路政署管理。而迴旋處上，大堂之下為港鐵後勤空間，設有員工設施（包括：休息室、洗手間、更衣室），以及機房，另設一道小樓梯連接大堂層的車站控制室，而受觀塘市中心重建項目影響之新觀塘美沙酮診所，已建在迴旋處內，以及設有兩道小樓梯連接觀塘道來回方向的行車隧道。樓層大堂觀塘站內提供不同類型的商店供乘客購物，例如有便利店、麵包糕餅店、銀行、藥房等服務，所有商店主要分佈在非收費區內。此外，觀塘站也有不少自助服務設施供乘客享用，包括自動櫃員機和自動售賣機。大堂近客務中心亦設有香港郵政郵箱方便乘客在車站內投寄郵件，以及「會員服務站」供乘客登記為港鐵友禮會會員、查閱獎分及換領獎賞。月台觀塘站設有2個月台，並共用同一個島式月台，1號月台為觀塘綫往調景嶺方向的列車使用，而2號月台為觀塘綫往黃埔方向的列車使用。由於車站沿觀塘道的路面上方興建，因此月台彎度較高，引致月台與列車之間的空隙較闊，故此港鐵公司會在列車及月台上播放廣播提醒乘客注意月台空隙，月台地面亦貼上大型「請小心空隙」標貼，並於月台的邊緣加上膠條縮窄有關空隙。另外，並在觀塘站東面和西面分別設有袋狀軌和單向渡線（原為雙向，順向一組在東隧路段通車後被拆除），可供列車於該處掉頭或停泊之用。現時深夜部分班次會以觀塘站作終點站，再利用車站西面渡線路軌返回九龍灣車廠。由於觀塘站是部分班次的終點站之一，所以在月台中部（月台長辦公室旁）設有員工專用洗手間一個。
