Detailed description is «Омаха» — кодовое название одного из пяти секторов вторжения сил союзников на побережье оккупированной нацистами территории Франции в ходе операции «Оверлорд» во время Второй мировой войны.
Высадка произошла 6 июня 1944 года, её осуществили силы 5-го корпуса 1-й американской армии.Пляж расположен на правом берегу дельты реки, на берегу пролива Ла-Манш на севере Нормандии (Франция) близ города Лонгвиль (фр.
Longueville).
Длина пляжа составляет 8 км, он простирается от восточного края Сент-Онорин-де-Перта до западного края Вьервиль-сюр-Мера.
Высадка была проведена согласно приказу связать британские части, высаживающиеся на востоке в секторе Голд-Бич, с американскими частями, высаживающимися на западе в секторе Юта-Бич.
Таким образом, благодаря захвату сектора Омаха-Бич обеспечивался протяжённый захваченный плацдарм на нормандском берегу залива Сены.
