Detailed description is Yoni Ki Baat (YKB), produced by Tasveer, is an annual spotlight show of Aaina: South Asian Women's Focus. http://aaina.tasveer.org/2014/ykb/ ABOUT YKB:. Inspired by Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues, Yoni Ki Baat was originally started by South Asian Sisters, a progressive collective of South Asian women based in San Francisco area. Today, Yoni Ki Baat is performed across the United States by South Asian women telling authentic, bold, vivid, tender, powerful and poignant stories. YKB acknowledges that female sexuality is an essential aspect of identity, experience and expression. This transformative space encourages South Asian women to express their challenges, hopes, dreams, breakdowns, breakthroughs, and aspirations for change on behalf of their bodies.. . Yoni Ki Baat/Aaina are annually produced by Tasveer, an organization committed to bringing progressive South Asian film, along with visual arts and performance, to the Pacific Northwest. We consider South Asians to have descent in countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Tibet. Tasveer thanks Gardner Center for Art and Ideas, and Seattle Asian Art Museum for funding and support. Every year a portion of proceeds from Yoni Ki Baat is donated towards ending violence against women.
