The Memorial Committee consists of members of the Yarnell Hill Recovery Group, Inc., the Yarnell Fire District and other local residents.
With community input, staff and students from the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture developed three design possibilities for a Memorial Park.
These were displayed and further resident input solicited over a four-month period in 2014.
Adam Cosman, LLC , working in conjunction with the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture, developed the next version of the Park design.
That design, displayed here, was based on refinements recommended by residents and Memorial Committee members.
Fundraising is underway to make this vision a reality.

PARK FEATURES INCLUDE: .
1. A restroom will be two-story, handicap equipped; the entryway on Highway 89 will have an overlook that will allow visitors to view down into the park.

2. A sloping walkway will guide visitors north toward Shrine Road, and then turn left, then another left.
The wall of this walkway will be a “story wall,” which will tell the story of the Yarnell Hill Fire for years to come.

3. A photo of the GMIHC as a human pyramid (with missing members Photoshopped in) is planned as the centerpiece of the memorial; it should be laser etched on metal, and then metal mounted to huge boulders..
4. Landscape elements:.
a) Trees/bushes will be selected for suitability to this elevation and for low maintenance and low fire risk.

b) Floral elements will emphasize purple blossom plants as the dominant color, such as Russian sage, iris, lavender, lilac bushes, or walkers low .
