Detailed description is Natural Resource Honor Society The original chapter of Xi Sigma Pi was established at the University of Washington in 1908 as a forestry Honor Society. In the 60's-70's, the environmental movement prompted the society to expand into other branches of natural science such as wildlife/fisheries, ecology, and conservation biology. Xi Sigma Pi is now proud to be the ONLY Natural Resources Honor Society in the nation with 44 established chapters (43 US, 1 Canada).. . Our very own Epsilon chapter was founded in 1920 and we have inducted more than 1,500 undergraduate and graduate students since our founding. We strive to maintain high scholastic standards in Natural Resources, work towards improvement of our profession, and promote fraternal spirit among those engaged in related activities.
