Detailed description is The Quaker Meetinghouse in homesteaded Woodland, standing and operating since 1939; the church hopes to be Jesus Christ to the community in serving them through whatever their needs might be, as well as spiritual guidance and encouragement.
'In the late 1890s, land on the hill above Kamiah, Idaho, opened up for homesteading.
Quaker wheat farmers from North Branch, Kansas, jumped at the chance for a new start in a new land.
Those flatlanders could not have imagined the challenge of hauling their wagons up the mountain on a rugged trail.
They called this place Woodland.
Covered in timber, it was a far ry from Kansas..

These early Quakers held meetings in their homes for many years, eventually building a meetinghouse (in 1939) from lumber milled in Woodland.
Seventy-three years later, the Friends church is the remaining vestige of a community that once was home to a store, post office, mills and a school.
The school building still stands, and is owned and maintained by the church as a meeting place for community events.
