Detailed description is Since 1975, WCCOA has provided seniors throughout Wood County with the resources they need to maintain their independence and enjoy this season of life. It all started back in September of 1973 when a group of concerned citizens held a meeting and defined the need for a Senior Center in Wood County. That meeting helped to develop an organization centered on helping older adults in Wood County remain independent while improving the quality of their lives. Today, that organization is known as the Wood County Committee on Aging (WCCOA).. . In 1975, WCCOA was founded and the first Senior Center opened on the Wood County Fairgrounds. In 1977, the Rossford Senior Center opened.. . By 1981, WCCOA moved to its current location – the former Bowling Green Post Office at 305 N. Main Street. . . Perrysburg soon followed, opening a Senior Center in 1985, followed by North Baltimore in 1989, Northeast (Walbridge) in 2001, and Pemberville and Wayne, both opening in 2008.. . Today, the Wood County Committee on Aging operates seven senior centers throughout Wood County Monday-Friday.. . In 2006, WCCOA broke ground on a new Production Kitchen, located on E. Gypsy Lane Road in Bowling Green, to meet the demands of a growing nutrition program.. . The statistics show that the need for our services continues to grow. In 2013, WCCOA conducted over 37,344 units of program service, had a record high year for medical transportation (completing 957 non-emergency medical escorts), and served over 187,000 meals – including over 96,000 home delivered meals!. .
