Detailed description is The WMBG; a group within the Canadian Historical Aircraft Association is dedicated to building a de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito to be completed as Mosquito KB161, to honor the first Canadian-built Mossie to enter combat in WWII. Mosquito KB161 "City of Vancouver" was the first Canadian-built Mosquito to enter combat in Europe in August of 1943. Sadly, it was also the first to be lost in action, catching fire on landing after a Pathfinder mission in May 1944. F/O G.W.Lewis lost his life in the crash near Cambridge, England. The Mosquito being built here in Windsor when completed will display the markings of this historically significant aircraft. . . Most of the project is being built entirely from scratch from the thousands of original engineering drawings, some original parts recovered from a wreck in the North West Territories in 1996 are also being incorporated into the build.
