The church was originally meeting in a frame structure on the property, which was later completed, and is now the church parsonage. The new church building was constructed by members of the church with only limited professional help.. Rev. John W. Whitaker was founder of the church and served as pastor for several years. The church name was later changed to "Westminster Drive Church of God." Then while Phil Newton was pastor, the name was again changed, this time to "Westminster Church of God." . . Declaration of Faith. The Church of God stands now, as it has always stood, for the whole Bible rightly divided and for the New Testament as the only rule for government and discipline.. . We believe:. . 1) In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.. . 2) In God externally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.. . 3) That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary.
