Detailed description is I received an award for this painting..Walter Pape: Walter Pape discovered his artistic talent in his early twenties. He prefers landscapes and flora for his subjects. As media he mostly works in oil or watercolour. Being introduced to Faye Digulla he discovered the art of print making and became very enthused about the various print making techniques. As a trained civil engineer he is used to detail and precision which reflects in the work he does. Etchings and lino cuts are his preference. . . Walter was raised and educated in Germany. In 1966 he moved with his wife Maria to New Liskeard. He took art classes early on with various well known artists. Walter was one of the founding members of the Palette and Brush Club. As an active participant in the art community, Walter joined the executive of the Temiskaming Art Gallery and has been the chair for over 20 years each time. Presently he is the treasurer for the board.. . The inspiration for his art is derived from his surroundings and the travels in the world .

For me gardening is a different art form, sculpturing the landscape, making something happen, planning for the future. My garden is constantly evolving and so is my art. My travels take me to many places around the world and opens me up to the wonders this world has to offer, what human kind has created, how wind and water, heat and cold and volcanoes have formed and changed the surface of the earth. How fauna and flora have adapted to the ever changing and challenging environment which is more and more influenced by us humans. To experience these wonders of the creation is very exciting and inspiring. In recent years I learned the art of print making from Faye Digulla. This opened up a whole new spectrum for me how to create my art. Printing leads itself wonderfully to express and see the world in a different and more simplified way. Etchings, lino cut, collagraph and mono type prints are perfect to create art to reflect our Sacred Earth.
