Detailed description is The Bystander Initiative is a public action group to start conversation around stopping sexual assault in and around campus at the University of Victoria. Sexual Assault & Violence on campus is an issue that can no longer be ignored!. . This does not include those who do not report sexual assault!. . Did you know?. . 4/5 female undergrad students report victimization of violence and sexual assault on campus, and it is individuals aged 18-24 that experience the highest rates of sexual assault in Canada! . . 60% of Canadian college-aged males indicated that they would commit sexual assault if they were certain they would never be caught!. . Less than 1/10th of sexual assaults are even reported to police!. . The Bystander Initiative here at uvic is a project to get conversation started in and around campus with regards to sexual assault. . . Our hope is that by bringing awareness to this issue, and by educating students to what the reality is that is going on around them, the word will spread.. .
