The UTEP Dinner Theatre was founded 33 years ago with a production of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT entirely produced, designed and directed by students.
In celebration of our roots, the UDT is inaugurating a new off shoot production entity called SIDE DISH PRODUCTIONS.
Each year in December SDSP will provide qualified student producers, designers and directors with funds and mentorship enabling them to mount a fully produced musical.
These student productions will be staged in a specially configured intimate black box setting inside the Dinner Theatre.
There will not be any meals served for these productions.
This new project will give students another opportunity at UTEP to hone their skills and will give El Paso audiences a chance to see new and edgier fare that wouldn’t normally be produced at the UDT..
