Detailed description is We provide a variety of services that address the psychological, educational, social and developmental needs of the university.
The Counseling Center is part of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and was founded in 1937.
Our staff is comprised of 25 clinical counselors (13 of whom are licensed in the state of Illinois) and many academic and support staff.
We are also committed to training and offer intern and practicum programs.
In 2013-14, the Counseling Center scheduled more than 14,000 counseling appointments.

We offer students individual and group counseling, which is covered by the health services fee.
In addition to clinical services, we are active in educational and preventive outreach throughout campus.
During the 2013-14 school year, our outreach activities served more than 22,000 students, faculty, staff, and parents.
Outreach events range from our Tuesday@ 7 Workshops, which are led by Counseling Center Paraprofessionals, performances by our INNER VOICES Social Issues Theater group, our ACE IT (Alcohol Culture Explored Interactive Theater) sessions for new students, and our Workshops on Request.
