Detailed description is UNCG's Office of Multicultural Affairs works to enhance awareness, understanding, and advocacy for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) students and their straight allies. UNCG believes that all students, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender presentation deserve the same dignity, respect, rights, and privileges. . . We promote equality through Safe Zone trainings, LGBTQ Office Hours, and our Lunch & Learn series.. . Safe Zone trainings are offered throughout the semester. These three-hour seminars are designed to help students, faculty, and staff understand the unique needs and challenges faced by students in the LGBTQ community. This is the place to start if you want information about how to help LGBTQ students who ask you for support, or if you want to learn more about how to advocate for equality on your campus. You can find a list of Safe Zone training dates on our official website.. . LGBTQ Office Hours are held every Wednesday from 4-6 in the Office of Multicultural Affairs Conference Room, 062G Elliott University Center. We usually have a question of the week followed by informal discussion of whatever is on your mind. Come out and meet the staff, and hang out with people who support the cause. This is a great place to meet people in a smaller group and to talk about what you experience on campus. Plus, free snacks!. . Our Lunch & Learn series is an extension of Safe Zone. It provides a more in-depth look at specific issues within the LGBTQ community. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to bring a lunch and a thinking cap for thought-provoking lectures and discussions. These are perfect if you're ready to move beyond LGBTQ 101.
