Detailed description is UCS - CARVI Em 1993, quando a Fundação Educacional da Região dos Vinhedos (FERVI) firmou convênio com a Universidade de Caxias do Sul, esta passou a administrar o ensino superior na área de abrangência de Bento Gonçalves, incorporando os quatro cursos superiores que ali eram oferecidos.
A Escola de 2º Grau Região dos Vinhedos, também mantida pela FERVI, foi assumida pela Universidade em 1997, e passou a ser denominada Centro Tecnológico Universidade de Caxias do Sul - Unidade de Ensino de Bento Gonçalves..

Com esse convênio, e através da Portaria MEC nº 211, de 19-02-93, nascia o Campus Universitário da Região dos Vinhedos (CARVI), em substituição às duas Faculdades até então existentes.
De 736 alunos, em 1992, passou-se, em 2010, para mais de 5 mil alunos, provenientes de mais de 50 municípios do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, e 21 cursos de graduação.
