A Slow Food Lake Tahoe Community Project Slow Food Lake Tahoe is embarking on revitalizing the Community Garden space and turning it into a demonstration garden for high altitude food growing education.
SFLT will host community workshops on a wide range of topics such as soil preparation, choosing suitable crops, pest management, seasonal growing, harvesting, etc each growing season..

The Garden will be supported by local businesses through a “Garden Bed Partner Program”.
The Garden is organized into distinct growing boxes and local businesses may sponsor a box through a sliding scale donation.
The sponsoring business will then be able to attend workshops offered at the Garden free of cost and either keep or donate the food produced.
In addition to financial sponsorship, Partners will also staff volunteers for Garden upkeep and assist with Garden improvement projects.
It is our hope to inspire the Partner Volunteers to grow their own gardens and begin sharing the knowledge with their neighbors, their children, etc..

SFLT will maintain an example box for reference and inspiration for our Partners and be an open resource for any questions and concerns regarding high-altitude gardening.
SFLT will provide an onsite Garden Manager from April through October, to coordinate and manage regular maintenance.
The Garden Manager will monitor all boxes in the Garden as well as plan and coordinate the volunteer days and workshops.
These days will be free for Sponsors and available at a nominal fee to community members.
